Wow...! Here we go again. I had thought hat the last CMC race car we put on the cover was the non plus ultra of production modeling. I was wrong. This Benz beater outdoes anything we've ever seen! But to the car. The Type C developed by Ferdinand Porsche wrote racing history, out of the box, like no other racing car had done before. With it's sensational V-16 engine placed behind the driver, unconventional at the time and now a standard layout, pumping out 520 hp. Bernd Rosemeyer's mount in 1936, 1937 and until he died in a world record run in 1938, kept the three pointed star at bay. The model is in a word fantastic. Nine inches long, made out of 1026 individual parts. (This is some kind of record in it's own right). Here are the details: Removable front and engine cowlings, revealing a fully plumbed V-16 with removable spark plugs. Handmade stainless radiator grille. Scale cooling system. Dashboard with instruments. Fabric seat with leather head restraint. Scale front friction shock absorbers. Ventilated brake drums with scoops. Each wheel, removable with fly nut, is made of 75 separate parts! Stainless, opening fuel filler cap. Even the cowling latches are to scale with real rubber rings. The best 1:18 scale automobile model we have ever seen anywhere, at any price. You must have this in your collection!
